WITHOUT MANDREL
Prepare the Workspace:
- Ensure your dental workspace is clean and well-lit.
- Have all necessary equipment and materials ready, including the Sof-Lex Spiral Wheels kit.
Select the Appropriate Wheel:
- Determine whether you need the fine finishing wheel (beige) or the superfine polishing wheel (white) based on your restoration's requirements.
Attach the Mandrel:
- The Sof-Lex Spiral Wheels use the same mandrel as the discs. Attach the appropriate mandrel to your slow-speed handpiece.
Prepare the Restoration Surface:
- If necessary, contour the restoration surface using appropriate tools before polishing.
Finishing (Fine Finishing Wheel - Beige):
- Place the fine finishing wheel onto the mandrel.
- Apply light to moderate pressure on the restoration surface.
- Move the wheel in a slow and controlled motion, ensuring that all areas are evenly treated.
- Use the wheel to remove scratches and prepare the surface for high-gloss polishing.
Polishing (Superfine Polishing Wheel - White):
- Replace the fine finishing wheel with the superfine polishing wheel on the mandrel.
- Apply light to moderate pressure, similar to the finishing step.
- Polish the restoration surface in a slow and controlled manner.
- Aim to achieve a very smooth, high-gloss polish.
Evaluate and Adjust as Needed:
- Periodically inspect the restoration surface for the desired finish. If necessary, repeat the polishing step to achieve the desired result.
- Cleanup:
- Remove any debris or residue from the restoration surface.
- Completion:
- Your restoration should now have a natural-looking, high-gloss finish.
- Maintenance:
- Clean the Sof-Lex Spiral Wheels as per manufacturer instructions for reuse or dispose of them properly if they are single-use.
